VUMI
VUMI is an ePortfolio service that's a way for people to showcase their skills, talents, achievements, experience and qualifications for education, careers and professional networking.
It's s a flexible online tool to manage career development and life long learning and can be used by individuals for education and training needs, overseas students, professional and career development purposes.
Education and training institutions, industry groups, professional organisations have varied uses for the ePortfolio including assessment and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), accreditation programs, grant applications and entry to further training or education courses.
VUMI is easy to use, professional, and can be set up in a matter of minutes. A presentation can be made that is unique and personal.
Stop for a minute and try to imagine mailing photos, videos showing you at work, certificates and awards along with a printed resume – not only would you spend a fortune in photocopying, duplicating videos and postage, it could take days or weeks to arrive. And it’s not very environmentally-friendly! But unlike a physical package, VUMI is instant, electronic, and trustworthy, making it great for you and the person receiving it.
And unlike an ordinary email, VUMI lets you safely send audio, images, PDF’s, links and even videos without resorting to those annoying large attachments, which may be blocked, or clog up other people’s inboxes.
With VUMI, you can quickly update and change your ePortfolios for different jobs and employers. In other words, it’s easy to create many different ePortfolios, and include in each one the things you’ve learned and achieved that are directly suited to each type of position you’re applying for.

HOW DOES VUMI WORK AS A RESUME?
So exactly how does VUMI give you the edge when you’re applying for a job?
- You can upload images – like a photo of something you’ve worked on, or yourself graduating from a course, receiving an award, or simply dressed and presented at your professional best to help you stand out from other applicants.
- You can upload video - for example, use your mobile phone to video yourself directly demonstrating your skills as a chef, hairdresser, carpenter, coffee barista, or whatever it is you do.
- You can upload audio – like a question and answer session with your examiner, to prove you know and understand the work. Or perhaps a talk you’ve given, or even a song or script you’ve written if you work in the creative arts.
- Of course, it’s easy to put text into VUMI, so your entire career and educational history is right there at your prospective employer’s fingertips. You can type text directly into VUMI, or include PDF or other document files.
- And you can include scanned documents like awards and certificates, and examples of your work.
